PRESENTATION: "Safeguarding the Bioeconomy. Does Biotechnology Need a Security Patch?”
Description: The bioeconomy promises profound, beneficial impacts in the areas of health, agriculture, renewable energy, and additive manufacturing. However, when it comes to security, biological threats have historically focused on emerging infectious diseases or the possibility of engineering a virus to start a zombie apocalypse. As biotech converges with the cyber, AI, and telecom realms, new security challenges will arise. This presentation will highlight how we define what we consider biological and cyber threats for the US and internationally.
Presenter: Supervisory Special Agent from the FBI’s National Counterintelligence Task Force (NCITF)
